MSC Juggle Club
What is the Juggling Club:
Medford Soccer Club is excited to announce the start of the MSC Juggling Club for all MSC Travel Team Players. The club was started as a way to get our kids excited about the art and skill of juggling the soccer ball. Currently the Juggling Club is only for registered MSC Travel Team Players.
How To “Join The Club”:
There are no club meetings. All practice and juggling level attempts are the sole responsibility of the player and their coach.
All juggles must be consecutive and performed in front of your coach in order to count toward your goal. Your coach will then report your juggling score to the Juggling Club Coordinator. You will then receive a wristband that rewards you for each of your achieved Levels. After 50 consecutive juggles, your name will also be listed on our website!
Why Juggle:
Juggling is the art of keeping a soccer ball up in the air by bouncing it off of your feet, thighs, chest, and head. Soccer juggling will strengthen your overall ball control and game. Juggling is a fundamental soccer skill that helps a player establish good “touch”.
How To Juggle:
Hold the ball out in front of you, take a deep breath to relax, and then drop the ball down to the laces on your shoes. Try keeping the ball up for 2 or 3 times before catching it again. Do this until you feel comfortable and then start trying to beat your score. It’s that simple! (More experienced jugglers should start with the ball on the ground and use their feet to get started. Two rules: no hands and no bounces on the ground! Try to remember to stay calm and relaxed when juggling and keep the ball close to you. Also, try to use both feet and different body parts. Change it up!
BENEFITS OF JUGGLING:
Players who practice juggling, gain more confidence on the ball while increasing their overall skill. When juggling, learning to control the body is very important. Juggling teaches a player how to make quick adjustments with all their muscles. Better balance is also achieved, and will enable a soccer player to move to the sides, while maintaining the required balance to shoot the ball. With good juggling skills, players will make better passes, beat defender more easily, and be able to maintain possession of the ball. All because they have a better touch on the ball.
